SENIOR PRODUCT ENGINEER

Position Summary

Design and develop products for production, tools and/or machines; develop solutions to production problems relating to design, materials, processes and tooling. Manage responsibilities, and the personnel working in listed areas of responsibility. Fill the role as a team member for the department.

• Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
• Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
• Lead design efforts to bring new products through development and into production.
• Manage the responsibilities of technicians or other support personnel assigned to your responsibilities and /or Project.
• Work with manager to develop department goals and objectives.
• Coordinate closely with other teams and team members to complete project and departmental objectives.
• Assure products and product components comply with safety agencies.
• Prepare for and conduct engineering design reviews on new products and improvements to existing products.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors to gain assistance in product decisions and assist purchasing in vendor choice and performance.
• Write, or have written, implement and update procedures.
• Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
• Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
• Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
• Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
• Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products.

Skills & Abilities

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
Experience: Five years related experience
Computer Skills: CAD, Microsoft Office, Access.
